🚨 Digital IDs – Another Step Towards State Control

The Government has announced plans to roll out digital IDs for British citizens, claiming it will help tackle illegal migration and prevent illegal working. On the surface, that might sound sensible – but let’s be clear: this isn’t about stopping illegal migrants working. They already operate in the black market, outside the system, and no ID scheme will prevent that. What this will do is force ordinary, law-abiding Britons to surrender yet more of their personal freedom. It’s another tool for the state to track, monitor, and control citizens under the banner of “security” and “convenience.”

Reform UK view: Protect freedoms, enforce the laws we already have, and stop burdening the public with schemes that don’t fix the real problem.

The Real Priorities

  • Enforce existing laws against illegal working with proper inspections and penalties.
  • Target the black market where illegal employment actually happens.
  • Protect privacy and civil liberties for British citizens.

Why Digital IDs Miss the Point

  1. Black market work bypasses IDs. Those determined to evade the system already do.
  2. Mission creep. Once introduced, IDs tend to expand in scope—more checks, more data, less freedom.
  3. More bureaucracy, higher costs. Another national IT project that risks ballooning budgets and adding friction to everyday life.

Digital IDs are not the answer – they are another Great Con.

I’m proud to call Stourbridge my home and love my town and country. However, I’m concerned about the direction of our nation under the main political parties. That’s why I support the Reform UK Party and its leader, Nigel Farage, who I believe can restore Great Britain’s greatness.I aim to serve Stourbridge as a councillor, tackling anti-social crime, motorbike theft, and supporting local businesses. My ultimate goal is to represent Stourbridge as an MP, driving meaningful change.
